DrivePulse Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 September 2026

In short: DrivePulse is an "Offline by Design" app. We do not collect, transmit or sell any of your data: your trips never reach us, because there is no server of ours. The only copy that can leave the phone is your iPhone’s own iCloud backup, which is yours and which you control from the app settings. On Android not even that: the app is excluded from the system backup.

1. No cloud data collection

DrivePulse does not require creating an account. There is no central database or cloud server to which your driving data, GPS location or vehicle information is sent.

2. Locally stored data

All information collected via the OBD2 adapter and the phone sensors (GPS, accelerometer) is stored exclusively in the local database on your device. This data includes:

3. Use of Location

The app asks for location access so it can record trips on its own, even with the screen off. On iPhone this requires the "Always" permission; on Android the app records only while the trip is running and never asks for background location. The track points stay in the database on your phone and are used to compute distances and draw maps. They do not reach us: there is no server of ours. Two things do leave the phone, though, and we would rather say so. To write the street name of a trip or a parking spot, the phone asks the operating system's map services for the address (Apple on iPhone, Google on Android). To draw the map it downloads tiles from CARTO, and asking for a tile tells them which area you are looking at. Neither request carries anything beyond the coordinates: not your name, not an identifier of yours, not your trip history.

4. How the adapter connects

The OBD2 adapter (ELM327) is reached locally, without going through the internet: over Bluetooth LE, over Wi-Fi to the adapter itself, and on Android also over classic Bluetooth. The only requests the app sends to the network are the ones described in section 3, plus Apple's and Google's stores for the purchase.

5. In-App Purchases

DrivePulse uses Apple's in-app purchase system (StoreKit) for the Lifetime license. Transactions are handled entirely by Apple and the developer neither receives nor stores any payment data. The purchase receipt is managed by your Apple ID.

6. Your rights

Since all data resides on your phone, you have full control: you can export it via the backup feature or delete it permanently by removing the app or using the "Delete all data" function in settings.

7. Safety and responsibility

Never look at or use the phone while driving. Consult DrivePulse only when the vehicle is stopped. The driver is solely responsible for safe driving and for complying with laws on phone use while driving. The values shown are informational estimates and do not replace a mechanic; the app is read-only and does not modify the vehicle. For the full terms and limitation of liability, see the Support page.
